The changes of soil moisture at different underlying surfaces and different depths in Linze grassland densification observation area were measured to provide data for the analysis of temporal and spatial changes of soil moisture and the inversion of soil moisture by thermal inertia method. The quadrat is distributed in five sample areas a, B, C, D and e of grassland station, and each sample area has 4 sample points. The measuring instrument is mainly ring knife, which can provide soil moisture data at 5cm, 10cm, 20cm and 40cm of soil profile. The observation interval is 1-2 weeks, in which some data are missing in sample areas D and e due to irrigation. This data set includes soil profile moisture excel and word data tables.
